Team Stuburt's David Howell started the 2006 European Tour season off in spectacular fashion this weekend with a superb three shot victory over World Number One Tiger Woods at the inaugural HSBC Champions Tournament in Shanghai, China. Howell, who had led the tournament since Friday's second round, started the final day with a one stroke lead and held off Woods' challenge to claim Asiaâ??s richest-ever event. Finishing with a final round four under par 68 to post a formidable winning total of 20 under par at the recently opened Sheshan International Golf Club, Howell clinched his greatest win to date.. The victory also sees him leapfrog Luke Donald, Padraig Harrington and Colin Montgomerie in the Official World Ranking to reach a lofty 13th and officially become Britain's best golfer. 'This is something I have always dreamed of but probably didnâ??t think was going to come true', commented an ecstatic Howell. â??When you end up in the last group playing with the World Number One you know itâ??s going to be a big day in your career. As a kid I never dreamt I would be the 13th best player in the world and I have inkling that I can go even further.' After a successful 2005 season that saw Howell win the BMW International Open wearing Stuburt's lead shoe the Profile, Howell has been trialling its successor, the soon to be released Profile S, and wore it during his latest triumph.
